Essay Portion – please limit each answer to 200 words or less. Leadership - Describe leadership roles you have held and anticipate how those activities have helped to prepare you for your current career path.

Advocacy - Provide an example of when you demonstrated advocacy in leading change or in influencing an important cause, proposal or issue. Examples might include work with vulnerable populations, issues around social justice, or promoting health equity. Please include: an overview of your example, your role in advocacy, outcome(s) and barriers to success, and lessons learned and future recommendations.

Inspiration and goals - What inspired you to pursue the nursing profession and your current career path? Briefly describe short-term and long-term goals for your career.

Work/volunteer experience(required) Describe your work and/or volunteer experience and how these experiences will influence your future nursing career.

Participation in WSNA, ANA or student nurses' association - Prelicensure applicants: Describe your participation in your student nurses' association and how you anticipate being involved in WSNA after becoming an RN. RN licensed applicants: Describe your participation in WSNA/ANA and why it is important to you.

Eligibility

All applicants:
Must be Washington state residents or enrolled in a nursing program located in Washington state GPA for pre-requisite and completed nursing courses must be at least 3.0 on 4.0 scale Pre-licensure applicants (i.e., not an RN yet):

Must be enrolled in a CCNE/CNEA/ACEN accredited program leading to an associate, baccalaureate or graduate degree in nursing RN licensed applicants:

Must be a member of WSNA in good standing Must be admitted to a CCNE/CNEA/ACEN accredited nursing program (i.e., baccalaureate or graduate program)

Recipients will be selected by the WSNF Scholarship Committee. Scholarships will be awarded based on academic performance; demonstrated leadership; advocacy; inspiration; goals; work, school, and community involvement; professional activities; and commitment to the Washington State Nurses Association (WSNA). Application writing quality will be evaluated (e.g., style, APA formatting, grammar, clarity, etc.).
